Triptych in Blue

A 3 track ambient ep (44m 29s) — released July 7th 2017 on Disco Gecko Recordings

Triptych in Blue is the latest instalment from a music partnership that began in 1997 when Andrew Heath and Felix Jay, under the name Aqueuous, recorded the album Meeting the Magus with one of the founding fathers of ambient, Hans-Joachim Roedelius.

Nearly 20 years later, Andrew Heath curated an exciting concert at The Brunel Goods Shed in Stroud, in September 2016, which brought together Roedelius and Andrew with fellow experimental musician Christopher Chaplin. This rare opportunity to collaborate offered up three stunning live recordings.

Triptych in Blue captures that unique concert and is ambient music of the highest order: constantly changing and shifting, it presents the listener with three musicians in perfect balance with each other.

The great Hans-Joachim Roedelius continues to produce, especially in collaboration, some of the most sublime ambient/neo-classical compositions of his long, distinguished career. Here, recorded live in the UK with fellow experimentalists Andrew Heath (Aqeuous) and Christopher Chaplin (gifted pianist and youngest son of Charlie), his filigreed trademark refrains marry perfectly with Heath’s gentle electronics and Chaplin’s studied pose, each mesmerising track floating beautifully in astral space. - Electronic Sound Magazine

Three stunning recordings, which are delicate, wistful and supremely moving. - Crack Magazine

Subtly done, each track is however taken into some ominous glooms and mysterious expanses of uncertainty by the trio, who guide those neo-classical and kosmische genres into some unfamiliar melodic and tonal ambient spaces. And all three in their own way are quite melodious and sometimes beautiful. - Monolith Cocktail
